Mahindra Thar 2020 Scores 4 Stars at Global NCAP Crash Tests

Mahindra Thar 2020 is the true adventure SUV of India. The All-New Thar is unveiled on the 15th of August in India. This SUV has the best off-roading capability. Mahindra Thar 2020 is built to perform well on the tough terrain as well as on the highways also. This SUV comes with a 2.2L diesel engine and a 2.0L petrol engine. The 220mm unladen ground clearance and 650mm water wading depth upgrade this vehicle from an SUV to a true adventure SUV. Mahindra Thar comes in 4 wheel drive and with all essential safety features. The demand for the Thar is very high in the Indian market and because of this, the waiting period is high to bring this SUV to your door. Mahindra Thar 2020 has been tested in the Global NCAP test. Mahindra Thar 2020 scored 4 stars with 12.52 points out of 17 in adult occupant protection and got 4 stars also in child occupant protection with 41.11 points out of 49.

The 2 door Mahindra Thar RHD model with 2 airbags has been tested during the Global NCAP test. The speed of the SUV was 64 kilometers per hour. The crash test weight of the Mahindra Thar was 2014 kilograms. 

Mahindra Thar 2020 has been scored a 4-star rating and 12.52 points out of a total of 17 points in the adult occupant protection. In the child occupant protection, this SUV scored a 4-star rating and 41.11 points out of a maximum of 49 points.

Adult Occupant Protection

Mahindra Thar 2020 is a little bit safer for the front passenger than the driver. The top upper position of this SUV is good for both driver and passenger like head and neck. The middle portion of both the driver and passenger seats are good but the passenger seat again scores a little bit more. The thighs of the driver appear marginal protection and the left thigh of the passenger appears good while the right side thigh displays marginal protection. Protection below the knees of both seats is adequate instead of the driver's right leg which shows marginal protection because of the structure behind the dashboard. The bodyshell area is stable and the footwell area is unstable. Thar has scored an overall four-star rating in adult occupant protection.

Child Occupant Protection

The child occupant protection for the 18-month-old child and 3-year-old child was fully safe. This SUV comes with ISOFIX anchorage for child safety. Mahindra Thar 2020 achieved a four-star rating in child occupant protection also. Hence, Mahindra Thar achieved an overall 4-star during the Global NCAP Crash Tests. Although the result is good, we are hoping for a 5-star safety rating for this adventure SUC in the upcoming future tests.

The test model of the Mahindra Thar 2020 has been loaded with other safety features like 4-channel ABS, front seat belt pretensioners, 3-points belts, and SBR. The ex-showroom Delhi price of the Mahindra Thar 2020 starts from 11.33 Lakh.
