BMW R18 Cruiser Bike (1800cc): Launched in India
BMW MOTORRAD has been launched the iconic R18 cruiser bike in India. Indian bikers are giving a great response to this bike. This bike will be available in India in two models, the first one is BMW R18 and the second is BMW R18 First Edition. BMW team has worked very hard to develop this unique cruiser bike. The 1802cc well-engineered engine makes this bike a bike having the highest displacement ever built by BMW Automobile Company. The 1802cc air plus oil-cooled four-stroke two-cylinder boxer engine shows how long they worked to convert a dream into reality. The engine of the BMW R18 churns out 91hp (67 kW) power at 4750 rpm and 158 Nm torque at 3000 rpm. The engine housing of this bike is covered by a high quality machined milled aluminum material.
BMW claims the maximum speed of R18 over 180 kmph. The unladen weight of R18 is 345 kg only having 690mm of the seat height for comfortable touring in the long terrains. The weight of the 1802cc bike has been optimized greatly by the BMW team.
The usable tank capacity of this cruiser bike is 16 liter. BMW claims the minimum cruising distance for this vehicle is 290 kilometers and the tested certified mileage is 17.9 kilometers per liter.

The 2-cylinder boxer engine of this cruiser bike has been integrated with all necessary modern features like electronic intake type fuel injection, BMS-K+ electronic engine management with overrun cut-off, automatic stability control, all LED lighthouse, twin spark ignition, BMW Motorrad dual-channel anti braking system (ABS), a 300mm twin disc brakes in the front wheel, 300mm single disc brake in the rear wheel.
The 1802 cc engine of the R18 and R18 first edition is handled by a high strength double-cradle steel frame with screwed on underbeams. And the transmission of the R18 is controlled by a 6-speed gearbox with a single-disc dry clutch.
The engine power transfer to the wheel was the main problem with that high displacement engine. On considering this challenge BMW technical team has been developed an open driveshaft for the engine to wheel power transmission this will help greatly to the rider to a hassle-free touring during a long distance.

Dynamic brake control, hill-start control, and engine immobilizer are the much-needed features added in this powerful big boxer cruiser bike. The owner will get three riding modes on this bike which are Rock, Roll, and Rain. The rider can adjust the handbrake lever and the clutch lever as per their convenience.
The length of this bike is 2440mm. Footboards are long and wide which supports a rider during cruising and the fishtail type rear silencer looks very cool. The front tyre of the BMW R18 is 120mm wide and the rear tyre is 180mm wide. BMW R18 and BMW R18 First Edition come with a standard warranty of the 3 years.
